belts galore

nude heels and a black belt; basics that belong in every woman's closet, right? then please explain, Lucy, why it's so difficult to find these two basic human necessities a) at a good price, and b) as a quality product that isn't going to fall apart after you pretend you're Carrie Bradshaw, prancing effortlessly in heels daily around Buffalo, i mean Manhattan (apparently i haven't learned my lesson yet against the synthetic upper).

back to modern/nostalgia. we do not have shoes yet. however, we have belts. lots of them. in great shapes, sizes, and the rare, hard-to-find color black. prices range from $22-$45.

oh, and please don't be jealous of the amazing photography that is happening here. with a Canon Powershot and a steady hand, you too can take beautiful candids of your wardrobe.

not your grandmother's handbag (but maybe once was her favorite chair)

not only did we receive the clutches yesterday (see yesterday's post) but we also acquired these amazing numbers too. they're made with vintage furniture fabric as well, but these bags are reversible! flip them inside-out for a completely new look. each comes with a wallet clipped on, which can be removed. detailing is amazing and flawless. oh, and they're machine washable. only three left at modern/nostalgia!

hot handbags

today arrived our long-awaited bags by a designer from L.A. they're created from vintage fabric intended for furniture design in the 50s, 60s and 70s. the designer is the sole owner of this amazing stock of fabrics (meaning no one else can copy these beautiful pieces!) since it was intended for everyday use, the fabric is extremely durable and well-made. i only wish my couch was as fun and inspiring as these bags!

pictured below are the amazingly priced clutches ($70 each), and there is exciting detail inside as well as out. each one has a removable leather strap and a zippered pocket inside. made in the USA by Kim White. five unique styles available at modern/nostalgia.

today she'll have the salmon

well hello there, Gladys. can you explain the amazingness that you're wearing today?

April is here, and Gladys promised her new salmon romper they'd spend this beautiful day together. rumor has it, she'll spend the afternoon traipsing around the Albright-Knox, then jet over to the Burchfield-Penney for the current Charles Burchfield exhibit. after that, she'll take off her bangles, jazz up her one-sleeved hotness with some gold jewels, replace the cloth belt with a wooden one and head for dinner at Left Bank. Gladys is ready to show Buffalo that it IS possible to be stylish in this small city!

the ultimate skirt

k. here's the deal with this skirt: you need it. it is, by far, the most flattering thing we've tried on in a long time. whether you carry your weight in your stomach or in your hips, this skirt hides it and creates a beautiful silhouette.

it's a beautiful navy blue color which is nice for spring, especially paired with a nautical-inspired top. it can also be translated to an autumn piece, as the material and color will blend nicely with your fall wardrobe. it's sexy and not too short (a concern that we hear often with dresses and skirts).

personally, we are pleased to have this piece in our wardrobe.

the perfect Easter dress

today we took many pictures of cute new outfits for spring. the plan was to post most of them...however, this one needs needs to stand on its own.

yes, it is as cute in person as it is in the picture. yes, it fits most everyone as well as it fits Gladys (refer to photo above). so amazing, the print is vintage inspired and has a European feel. let's put it this way, if a hippie chick in 1968 were to hitch a ride from San Francisco to Italy (we believe the airport regulations were a lot more lax back then), only to lock eyes with the steamy Stallion sipping a cappuccino at the Cafe, this dress would be the product of their romance. come and see it to believe it.

sale time

today we woke up slightly depressed...rain again?!? we thought it was April showers that bring May flowers. sigh. either way, when we got to the store today, we realized what would make us feel better...a lil retail therapy, of course! we bounced in and out of the fitting rooms until we found the perfect pieces to bring sunshine to this gloomy day. now we want to share that sunshine with our friends and family (we're referring to you!), who have been there for us from the beginning:

-all sale merchandise is an extra 50% off! (that is better than our own discount!)
-spend over $100 and get a free gift, compliments of Lolla (that little girl that hides out in the back room watching Sponge Bob)
-25% off all Sanctuary bottoms

just a little photo to inspire your wardrobe:

hurry in, sale ends Monday...
