a good cause

this is a few days late, but we just wanted to thank Kristin Scholz from AIDS Community Services of WNY (ACS) for allowing us to attend an event that raises money for a very important cause. tuesday night, modern/nostalgia was lucky enough to be invited to the Saturn Club to participate in the Women's Wine Club, which is a club that contributes to ACS.

during the first tuesday of every month, a bunch of fab women get together, drink fab wine and eat a fab dinner. portions of the proceeds benefit ACS. ACS provides medical, supportive and prevention services in a comprehensive model that encourages individuals to take responsibility for their health and quality of life (taken from the ACS website). it is important to give back to such a generous community, and we are blessed and honored to have spent a wonderful evening with such amazing women. so, thanks ladies and keep doin' what you're doin'!

room on hertel!

room opens its doors to the public today, friday, february 5th. being a north buffalo resident for about 5 years now, i'm very excited about this. not only are michael and david good friends of mine, they were once my landlords as well. their taste is classy and modern and their design...flawless. everything is always so put together and their attention to detail is impressive. these guys have worked hard for over four years now, and it shows with their ability to open a second location.

it's friday and i'm sure you don't have any plans yet for tonight. check them out, even if it's only for 10 minutes...1400 hertel ave between north park and sterling. i know you have a room in your house that could use some extra lovin'!

where's gladys going?

this is our new segment called 'where's gladys going?' gladys has based both an afternoon and evening look on a basic, white, long-sleeved tee and a purple thermal made of cotton, modal and spandex. here, she is casual and chic for sunday brunch by layering it with an asymmetrical grey sweater and denim leggings:

for friday night, she used the same white tee and purple thermal but layered them with a black fitted fleece blazer and patterned, sequined skirt:

all of glayds' accessories and clothing are available at modern/nostalgia. call us for details!

nostalgia

our intentions from the beginning have been to carry new clothing (check) and vintage accessories (check). our selection of vintage accessories has been limited to jewelry...until now! allita from apple's haberdashery has provided us with one-of-a-kind clutches that will be sure to add that final touch to your ensemble. we would love to say, "come and get them before they go out of style," but that's the thing about modern/nostalgia...our style will last you a lifetime!

and be sure to check out apple's haberdashery...http://appleshaberdashery.blogspot.com/

spring is here! (at least we think it is at 95 allen street!)

"wowza!" was our first reaction when we opened the boxes that the lovely UPS man brought us, which were bursting at the seams with fresh new product for spring. ladies, run, don't walk, over here to modern/nostalgia to scoop up patterned tights, bright basics, aMaZing dresses, and of course, accessorize with our fab (as terry agro would say) jewelry and scarves! pictures to come of gladys the mannequin, which was given to us by erin habes...thanks again erin!!!
